Memorial Day by

Many people confuse Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Memorial Day is a day for remembering and honoring military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. While those who died are also remembered on Veterans Day, Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor ALL those who served honorably in the military - in wartime or peacetime. In fact, Veterans Day is largely intended to thank LIVING veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served - not only those who died - have sacrificed and done their duty.
Veterans Day is a celebration! This is a day known for all of the Soldiers who have served, in military service. This means call someone you know who served in the United States Military.
Memorial Day is a somber celebration. This is the day you think of all the people who have given there lives during time of war.
In 1921, an unknown World War I American Soldier was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
Similar ceremonies occurred earlier in England and France, where an unknown soldier was buried in each nation's highest place of honor (in England, Westminster Abbey; in France, the Arc de Triomphe).
These memorial gestures all took place on November 11, giving universal recognition to the celebrated ending of World War I fighting at 11 a.m.
Memorial Day, or Veterans Day, these two get mixed up, as some call it is a celebration, no matter the name. There is no day which is a bad day for thanking and thinking about our military. With our current state of events, the War on Terrorism, we want to especially thank everyone serving, Miitary Men, Woman, Police, Fire Fighters. After 9-11 our military is stretched thin and Police and Fire Fighters have been grouped together.
Thanks to all of you who have served, are serving, are deployed, who have just returned, and those who are about to deploy. Thanks to those who have fallen. Thanks to those who plan, and those who follow these plans.
THANKS TO EVERYONE.
